Asthma can be triggered by a variety of environmental factors. This article discuses a way for asthma patients to avoid these environmental factors in order to prevent an asthma attack from occurring. A low cost solution to this problem is a device called the “Spiroscout”. It is a small addition to an inhaler that is equipped with a global positioning system receiver. When an inhaler is used, the Spiroscout detects the exact time and place in which the inhaler was used, and sends it to a database. Using the database, other asthma patients can avoid locations where attacks are triggered frequently.
